เมื่อวันที่ ๓๐ สิงหาคม ๒๕๖๖ นายวราวุธ ภู่อภิญญา เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน นำข้าราชการ และเจ้าหน้าที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน พร้อมด้วยชุมชนชาวไทยในเวลลิงตัน ไปทัศนศึกษา ณ ทําเนียบผู้สำเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์สมเด็จพระเจ้าชาลส์ที่ ๓ แห่งสหราชอาณาจักร ประจำนิวซีแลนด์

ทําเนียบดังกล่าวเป็นที่พํานักหลักของผู้สําเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์ฯ ตั้งอยู่ในกรุงเวลลิงตัน เป็นสถานที่สําคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ของนิวซีแลนด์ สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๕๓ (ค.ศ ๑๙๑๐) ออกแบบโดย นาย John Campbell สถาปนิกชื่อดังของประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ซึ่งได้ออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมแบบเอ็ดวาร์เดียน และเป็นการออกแบบเพื่อแสดงถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างจักรวรรรดิอังกฤษกับประเทศนิวซีแลนด์

เมื่อเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๐๕ พระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมหาชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร ได้เสด็จพระราชดําเนินพร้อมด้วย สมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง เยือนประเทศนิวซีแลนด์อย่างเป็นทางการ และได้ประทับที่ทําเนียบผู้สําเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์ฯ แห่งนี้ และได้พระราชทานพระบรมราชวโรกาสให้ชุมชนชาวไทยที่อาศัยอยู่ในประเทศนิวซีแลนด์เข้าเฝ้าทูลละอองธุลีพระบาท ณ ทำเนียบฯ แห่งนี้ด้วย

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตขอขอบคุณผู้บริหารระดับสูงของทําเนียบผู้สําเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์ฯ ที่ได้ให้การต้อนรับคณะและได้บรรยายเกี่ยวกับอาคารและประวัติความเป็นมาของทําเนียบฯ เป็นอย่างดี

ผู้สําเร็จราชการแทนพระองค์ฯ คนปัจจุบันคือ Dame Alcyion Cynthia (Cindy) Kiro ซึ่งได้เข้าดํารงตําแหน่งเมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ ตุลาคม ๒๕๖๔ (ค.ศ. ๒๐๒๑) และจะครบวาระในปี ๒๕๖๙

On the 30th of August 2023, Mr. Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of Thailand to New Zealand, along with officials and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy in Wellington and the Thai community in New Zealand, made a study visit at the Government House of New Zealand.

The Government House of New Zealand serves as the official residence of the Governor-General, who is the representative of His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom in New Zealand. Located in Wellington, the Government House is an important historical site of New Zealand. The present Government House, which is the third, designed by Mr. John Campbell, a renowned architect of New Zealand, and completed in 1910 is an Edwardian architecture and represents the relationship between the British Empire and New Zealand.

In August 1962, the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of the Kingdom of Thailand, along with Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen mother visited New Zealand and stayed at the Government House where Their Majesties graciously gave an audience to the Thai community in New Zealand in the Throne Room of this building.

On this occasion, The Royal Thai Embassy expresses appreciation to senior executives of the Government House, for their warm hospitality as well as for their excellent presentation on the architecture and history of the Government House.

The current Governor-General is The Right Honourable Dame Alcyion Cynthia (Cindy) Kiro. She assumed the office of Governor-General on 21 October 2021 and will complete her term in 2026.
