เมื่อวันที่ ๑๘ เมษายน ๒๕๖๗ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตประเทศอาเซียนประจำคูเวตสี่แห่ง ร่วมกันจัดงานเฉลิมฉลองเทศกาลปีใหม่ตามประเพณี และเทศกาลสงกรานต์ ของกัมพูชา สปป.ลาว เมียนมา และไทย ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย โดยมีแขกผู้มีเกียรติ ได้แก่ คณะกรรมการอาเซียนในคูเวตและเอกอัครราชทูตของประเทศอาเซียนและประเทศคู่เจรจาของอาเซียนในเอเชียตะวันออก (จีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้) เอกอัครราชทูตทาจิกิสถาน ในฐานะคณบดีทูตในคูเวต ผู้แทนกระทรวงการต่างประเทศคูเวต ผู้แทนสถานเอกอัครราชทูตอาเซียนพร้อมครอบครัว และผู้แทนชุมชนของทั้งสี่ประเทศ รวมทั้งผู้แทนสื่อมวลชนท้องถิ่นที่ไปทำข่าวและเผยแพร่อย่างกว้างขวางในคูเวต

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตประเทศอาเซียนทั้งสี่แห่งร่วมจัดงานฉลองนี้ขึ้น เนื่องด้วยมีความใกล้ชิดและมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมที่คล้ายคลึงกัน ทั้งด้านศาสนา ภาษา และวัฒนธรรม รวมทั้งการฉลองเทศกาลขึ้นปีใหม่ ตามปฏิทินประเพณีสุริยคติในเดือนเมษายนของทุกปี เป็นการก้าวย่างสู่ศกใหม่ที่สืบทอดจากโบราณกาลโดยเป็นวันมหาสงกรานต์ของกัมพูชา วันปีใหม่ของ สปป.ลาว ดะจานของเมียนมา และวันสงกรานต์ของไทย

งานนี้ได้จัดกิจกรรมสืบสานประเพณีในเทศกาลแห่งการเฉลิมฉลองที่สุขสันต์โดยนำเสนอด้วยเพลงที่มีจังหวะคึกคักเร้าใจของแต่ละชาติ การแสดงทางวัฒนธรรมที่งดงาม การละเล่นท้องถิ่น พร้อมทั้งอาหารประจำชาติอันเลิศรส และเครื่องดื่มที่ชื่นใจ

การเฉลิมฉลองปีใหม่ตามประเพณีและเทศกาลสงกรานต์ที่จัดขึ้นที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทยครั้งนี้ เป็นการร่วมงานกันของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตทั้งสี่แห่งเพื่อแบ่งปันความสุขสันต์หรรษา และวัฒนธรรมที่มีชีวิตชีวา พร้อมทั้งแสดงความปรารถนาดีซึ่งกันและกัน นอกจากจะสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความสมัครสมานสามัคคีกลมเกลียวและมิตรภาพอันดีระหว่างสี่ประเทศแล้ว ยังแสดงถึงความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันกับอาเซียนและประเทศคู่เจรจาในเอเชียตะวันออก ได้แก่ จีน ญี่ปุ่น และเกาหลี รวมทั้งการแสดงออกถึงไมตรีจิตกับรัฐคูเวตในฐานะประเทศหุ้นส่วนของอาเซียนด้วย

ASEAN Celebration of Traditional New Year Festival of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Thailand.

On 18 April 2024, at the Royal Thai Embassy, the four ASEAN Embassies in Kuwait jointly organize the celebration of the Traditional New Year Festival of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Kingdom of Thailand. The honorable guests include the members of the ASEAN Committee in Kuwait/ Excellency Ambassadors of the ASEAN and ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and South Korea) states. His Excellency Ambassador of Tajikistan as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Kuwait, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, the ASEAN Embassies and their families. Esteem press representatives also attend the Celebration.

The four countries share a common religious, cultural and linguistic heritage. Their traditional new year festival takes place in the middle of April as it marks the beginning of a new solar year on their traditional calendars. This signifies the start of the Traditional New Year in 4 countries, namely Maha Songkran for Cambodia, Pi Mai for Lao PDR, Thingyan for Myanmar and Songkran for Thailand.

This is an occasion for joyous celebration with family, friends and communities, where people from all walks of life come together to enjoy the fun. The New Year festival marks a time of joy and celebration marked by exciting colors, energetic music, beautiful cultural performances, traditional games, delicious food and delightful drinks and water splashes.

This celebration of the Traditional New Year is the collective efforts of the 4 Embassies to share their excitement, vibrant cultures and express our best wishes for all. This celebration in Kuwait reflects not only harmony, unity and friendship among the 4 countries but also the spirits of ASEAN 10, ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and South Korea) and the collaboration with the State of Kuwait as an ASEAN partner.
