ตามที่สาธารณรัฐเกาหลีได้จัดการเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดีเมื่อวันที่ ๙ พฤษภาคม ๒๕๖๐ โดยนายมุน แจ อิน ได้รับเลือกตั้งเป็นประธานาธิบดีสาธารณรัฐเกาหลีคนใหม่ นั้น 

 

พลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีถึงนายมุน แจ อิน ในนามของรัฐบาลและประชาชนไทย โดยได้ย้ำว่าไทยและสาธารณรัฐเกาหลีมีความสัมพันธ์ใกล้ชิดมาช้านาน และแสดงความพร้อมที่จะร่วมมือกับนายมุน แจ อิน ที่จะพัฒนาความสัมพันธ์ดังกล่าวให้ก้าวหน้ายิ่งขึ้นไปอีก โดยเฉพาะในโอกาสที่จะครบรอบ ๖๐ ปีการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างกันในปี ๒๕๖๑ ดังนี้

I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, my warmest congratulations on being elected as the President of the Republic of Korea. 

 

The Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Korea have long enjoyed cordial relations. Our soldiers fought side by side during the Korean War and we have built strong economic and cultural ties ever since. I am confident that under your leadership, we will be able to further advance these ties for the mutual benefit of our countries and peoples. 

 

As next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations, I very much look forward to meeting and working closely with Your Excellency to commemorate such an occasion, thus taking our relationship to a higher plane. Accept,
