เมื่อวันที่ ๑๗ เมษายน ๒๕๖๗ นายวราวุธ ภู่อภิญญา เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเวลลิงตัน ได้มอบหมายให้นางกรรณมน เสนาณรงค์ อุปทูตฯ เป็นผู้แทนบรรยายเกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ไทย-นิวซีแลนด์ และเทศกาลงานสงกรานต์ ณ กระทรวงธุรกิจ นวัตกรรม และการจ้างงาน (MBIE)โดยมีเจ้าหน้าที่ของ MBIE ประมาณ ๖ พันคนร่วมรับฟัง ทั้งในห้องบรรยายและออนไลน์จากทั่วประเทศนิวซีแลนด์ ซึ่งปีนี้เป็นโอกาสพิเศษ โดยเป็นปีแรกที่ไทยฉลองการขึ้นทะเบียน “สงกรานต์” เป็นมรดกวัฒนธรรมที่จับต้องไม่ได้ขององค์การยูเนสโก โดยขึ้นทะเบียนเมื่อวันที่ ๖ ธันวาคม ๒๕๖๖
นอกจากนี้ ในช่วงเวลาเดียวกันนี้นายคริสโตเฟอร์ ลักซอน นายกรัฐมนตรีนิวซีแลนด์ อยู่ระหว่างการเยือนไทยอย่างเป็นทางการ ในรอบ ๑๑ ปี ระหว่างวันที่ ๑๖-๑๘ เมษายน ๒๕๖๗ เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีไทย-นิวซีแลนด์ และยกระดับความสัมพันธ์สู่การเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์ระหว่างกันภายในปี ๒๕๖๙ ในโอกาสเฉลิมฉลองครบรอบ ๗๐ ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย-นิวซีแลนด์
On 17 April 2024, Mrs. Kanamon Senanarong, Charge d’Affaires, a.i., represented Mr. Waravuth Pouapinya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to New Zealand, in delivering a speech on Thailand-New Zealand relations and on Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year festival at the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) to around 6,000 MBIE employees nationwide both onsite and online. This year marked a special occasion as Thailand celebrated the inscription of “Songkran in Thailand, traditional Thai New Year festival” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (RL) under the Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage or the 2003 UNESCO Convention, on 6 December 2023.
In addition, during 16-18 April 2024, the Rt Hon Christopher Luxon made his first official visit to Thailand. It was the first official visit by the New Zealand Prime Minister in 11 years. The Prime Minsiter Luxon was keen to elevate the bilateral relations between Thailand and New Zealand to a higher level called “Strategic Partnership”, which is to be relialised by 2026 when the two countries celebrate the 70 years of Thailand-New Zealand diplomatic relations.
